Please describe the role of an Operations Manager?
My main function is to manage the Operations of Office Interiors. My goal is to make sure everything is running smoothly and efficiently. I have a range of responsibilities, including overseeing the day-to-day activities of our warehouses, service and warranty departments, and installation scheduling. I also manage maintenance tasks for our buildings and fleet.
What inspired you to pursue a career in operations?
I worked in the flooring industry for 20-plus years. I believe that experience gave me the knowledge needed to become an Operations Manager. I can think of several projects that put me into situations where I needed to address specific challenges and need to establish a smooth project flow.
What is your favorite aspect of working at Office Interiors?
My favorite thing about working at Office Interiors is the opportunity to tackle the ongoing challenges. But I also enjoy caring for our customers. And the environment itself also presents opportunities for growth and problem-solving. When everything aligns, that accomplished feeling is incredibly satisfying!
How do you approach planning and implementing new projects?
I really value my teammates. Their talents and skills are so diverse, and they’re a pleasure to work with. We work together and lean on each other to make sure all projects run as smoothly as possible.
Can you share a memorable project or accomplishment you have achieved in your role?
One of my most memorable projects was leading the project management for the Franciscan Alliance Michigan City Hospital. The new hospital opened in January 2019. The project operated on a tight timeline and required a lot of coordination among stakeholders. But with planning, communication, and management, we delivered the project on time.
Outside of work, what are some hobbies or interests that you enjoy pursuing?
I enjoy traveling and riding my motorcycle. I also love to cook and spend time with my family.
